De Porsche 356 Speedster werd een sterstuk dankzij Hollywoodlegende James Dean, die er in 1955 mee verschijnt aan de westkust. Toen Porsche de productie staakte, namen liefhebbers wereldwijd het stokje over. APAL — Application Polyester Armé Liégeois — bouwde in België handmatig replicas die door echte 356-fans worden bewonderd om hun trouw aan het origineel.
